“The power of the Rosary is beyond description.”

- Bishop Fulton J. Sheen

(Fulton J. Sheen, The World’s First Love: Mary, Mother of God (San Francisco: Ignatius Press, 1996, p. 214.)

The Rosary is a centuries-old method of meditation based on Sacred Scripture.

When Mary appeared to the three shepherd children in Fatima in 1917, she asked people to pray the Rosary every day. The Rosary is a way to reflect on the events in the lives of Jesus and Mary while reciting prayers. Holding a Rosary makes counting the prayers easy.

By praying the Rosary, we will imitate Mary, who reflected on things in her heart (cf. Lk 2:19).

By praying the Rosary every day, we can gain a deeper understanding of how Jesus and Mary lived and follow their examples of holiness.

The Rosary is an inexhaustible source of grace to help us with our daily struggles. Our Lord embraced every possible suffering to redeem our souls. Mary united her heart with her Son’s throughout His life, passion, death, and resurrection.

We say the prayers of the Rosary with our lips, but we contemplate events in the lives of Jesus and Mary with our minds and ponder them in our hearts.

(see Lk 2:19)
